Discover the Mediterranean Inn Seattle, a comfortable Queen Anne hotel near Seattle Center with kitchenettes, a rooftop terrace, and easy downtown access.

When looking for an affordable Seattle hotel in a great location, The Mediterranean Inn in the Queen Anne/Uptown neighborhood should be on your comfort-seeking radar. My wife and I had visited Seattle more than a dozen times, usually staying near the airport or downtown, but this trip gave us a chance to experience a different side of the city.

The Mediterranean Inn caught my eye because of its excellent reviews on Hotels.com, which only allows feedback from those who actually stayed there. The Queen Anne neighborhood location sold me due to its proximity to the Pacific Science Center, reasonable walking distance to the Pike Place Market/Downtown Seattle, and the quiet residential area surrounding the Inn.

We chose a King room, which, like all of the 180 rooms, has a kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, and sink. The sink came in handy for washing the fresh Rainier cherries we bought at the Pike Place Market on our first day in town. The walk-in shower was modern and had a handheld shower wand. I liked that the room had a desk/counter with an armchair on wheels, a chest of drawers, and ample space to stack our Market treasures.

The bed’s pillow-top mattress was very comfortable, and the sheets they provided were high quality. I would have liked another pillow choice, as the ones provided are a bit too poofy, but I still slept well thanks to the comfortable bed and quiet neighborhood.

All of the Inn’s rooms come with coffee makers, an electric kettle, a laptop-sized safe, an ergonomic armchair for reading or lounging, quiet A/C units, and windows that actually open to let in some fresh air. The Inn’s owners take good care of the property and were replacing wallpaper in the common areas during our stay. We found our room to be in tip-top condition and spotlessly clean.

Choosing the Right Room at the Mediterranean Inn Seattle

Several room options are available, such as the Run-of-the-House option, which is a mystery room they select for you based on occupancy. This selection gives guests the best rate for being flexible with their room choice, which is usually a single queen or a double full.

Accessible room choices are more than what you’d find in most hotels. There’s an accessible queen or an accessible queen with a roll-in shower. Likewise, there’s an accessible king and one with a roll-in shower. To round out the accessible choices is an accessible full with a roll-in shower. All accessible rooms come with a 35-inch-wide door, a properly located peephole in the guest room door, special toilet seats, and grab bars in roll-in showers or bathtubs.

Hotel Amenities

The Inn’s list of amenities impressed me. I liked getting a free USA Today newspaper at the front desk each day. In the lobby is an automatic coffee machine dispensing a variety of complimentary hot coffee choices. Although umbrellas are provided in the lobby, we lucked out and had dry weather for our two-night stay.

On the ground floor, find a fitness center, a business/meeting room, and self-serve laundry. If you are driving to the Inn, there are six floors of underground parking available for an additional charge, which you can include in your booking rate. If you like seeing Seattle by bike, check out one of their free loaner bikes, which come with helmets and locks. These bikes are only for daytime use as they aren’t equipped with lights. You could also hop the Bainbridge Island Ferry and bike around Bainbridge Island.

Rooftop Views of Seattle

One of the best features of the hotel is the rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Olympic Range, Elliott Bay, and Downtown Seattle. On some days, guests can see magnificent Mount Rainier in the distance. I saw guests enjoying the sunshine and views with beverages and snacks they bought up to this rooftop oasis. If you can’t find suitable snacks in the Inn’s 24-hour vending machine room, visit the Safeway store right across the street from the Inn with just about all the food and beverage choices you’d want.

Exploring Queen Anne and Seattle Center

The Pacific Science Center is a mere three-block walk away, with an IMAX theater, the Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Climate Pledge Arena, a planetarium, the Space Needle, and more. You could easily spend 3 to 4 hours walking the gardens, watching an IMAX film, and attending a performance at the Climate Pledge Arena.

The hotel has a list of over 30 restaurants within walking distance, ranging from Creole to Asian, and more. Or hop the monorail into Seattle, where dozens of restaurants and bars are close to the Westlake Center and Pike Place Market.

My wife and I liked that the Inn was only a 25-minute walk to Downtown Seattle. We took this walk three times during our stay and sometimes caught the free Waterfront Shuttle back. The free bus connects the Waterfront with the Pacific Science Center.

Getting to the Mediterranean Inn Seattle

We flew into SeaTac Airport, took the light rail for $3 each to Westlake Center, then caught an Uber for $20 to the Mediterranean Inn. For our return to SeaTac, we chose the town car service the Inn has partnered with, paid $70, and found it worth the money.
