Wander With Wonder – Discovering Wow Moments Around the World or Across the Street
Learn how to create a personalized travel itinerary that reflects your interests, avoids tourist burnout, and helps you enjoy more meaningful travel experiences.
One of the easiest things to do when planning a trip is to start looking at what everyone else recommends, which makes sense when you think about it because if you’re visiting somewhere for the first time, you’re probably going to look for advice about where to go, what to see, and what not to miss.
The problem is that after reading enough travel guides, watching enough videos, and scrolling through enough social media posts, it’s pretty easy to end up planning the trip everyone else would enjoy rather than the one you’d enjoy, and that’s a shame because holidays tend to be much more memorable when they actually reflect your interests rather than somebody else’s. Keep reading to find out more.

Start Your Travel Planning With Your Interests
A lot of people begin planning by choosing a destination and then figuring out what they’re supposed to do once they get there. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it can sometimes help to work backward. Think about the things you enjoy doing first and then build the trip around those.
After all, if you love history, you’ll probably want a very different holiday from somebody who’s mainly interested in food, beaches, or outdoor activities, and that’s totally fine because no one’s handing out prizes for traveling the right way.
Why You Don’t Need to See Every Attraction
Do you always feel like you’ve got to fit everything into one trip? A lot of people do. However, that’s not very helpful, because you’ll just end up with a list of things to do you feel you should visit, even if you don’t actually want to. Then you’ll have less time to do the things you really do want to do.
The fact is that skipping something doesn’t mean you’ve done the trip wrong, and in many cases, you’ll probably enjoy yourself more if you spend extra time doing things you actually fancy doing rather than rushing around trying to tick every box.

The Benefits of a Flexible Travel Itinerary
Not every travel experience has to follow the same formula. For example, some travelers choose custom tours for more control over what they see and how they spend their time, which can be ideal if you’re interested in specific places, activities, or experiences that don’t always fit neatly into a standard itinerary.

Remember That Your Vacation Is About You
This might sound obvious, but it’s actually easy to forget… but when you’re surrounded by recommendations, reviews, travel articles, and social media posts, it can start to feel as though there are certain things you’re supposed to enjoy. Try to get out of that mindset.
The reality is that the trip belongs to you, so if you’d rather spend three hours in a small museum than visit five major attractions, or if you’d rather sit in a café watching the world go by than rush off somewhere else, that’s completely your choice, and chances are you’ll enjoy the trip a lot more because of it.
