We stayed in an Ambassador Ocean View Suite, where contemporary elegance met the comforts of home.

Our balcony opened to sweeping views of the resort’s stunning infinity pool and the endless blue of the Sea of Cortez. The private outdoor jacuzzi on our terrace quickly became a favorite spot to unwind.

I love breakfast buffets in places outside the US. They are expansive and have a wide array of treats that tempt my tastebuds first thing in the morning in a way that most US hotel breakfasts can’t even begin to do. The one at Grand Velas Boutique Hotel is no exception. The breakfast buffet was a bounty of fresh, flavorful options—each morning a new delight.

A Mid-Day Dining Break
Lunches alternated between poolside bites and leisurely meals at ROCA, where the open-air setting added to the relaxed, coastal vibe.

ROCA served up an assortment of delicious tacos and ceviche made with fish brought into the hotel daily from the water right outside. How much fresher could you get than that?

The bartenders at ROCA whipped up some creative cocktails, which made for the perfect midday treat. They have a fun cocktail menu, and they also had a good time trying to come up with fun drinks to please the palates of restaurant diners.

An Afternoon Tequila Experience
On another afternoon, we explored Mexico’s rich cultural heritage through a guided tequila tasting at the Agave Tasting Room. Here, we sampled a curated selection of premium tequilas and mezcals and learned about the history, traditions, and techniques behind these iconic Mexican spirits. It was a delightful journey for the senses, offering yet another layer of indulgence to our stay in Cabo.

An Evening Extravaganza
Before immersing ourselves in our evening’s gastronomic adventure, we eased into the evening with handcrafted cocktails at the chic 51 Bar, an elegant lounge that felt both lively and intimate. I also enjoyed stopping in at 51 Bar mid-morning for a lovely handcrafted coffee.
After those before-dinner apperitifs, we shifted the mood for dinner with an unforgettable evening at Loto Robata Grill, an intimate and sophisticated dining venue helmed by acclaimed 2-Michelin-star chef Sidney Schutte.

The menu was a masterful exploration of Japanese flavors, each dish presented with dramatic flair and exquisite attention to detail. From delicate bites highlighting the purity of fresh ingredients to bold, umami-rich creations that surprised and delighted, every course felt like a carefully choreographed culinary performance. The restaurant’s sleek, contemporary design perfectly complemented the artistry on the plate, making the experience as much a feast for the eyes as for the palate.
Indulgence Beyond Borders: Dining Next Door at Grand Velas Los Cabos
As guests of Grand Velas Boutique, we also had access to the remarkable restaurants at the larger Grand Velas Los Cabos just next door. I’ve stayed at this flagship property before and was thrilled to return for dinner at Velas 10, where fresh seafood and ocean views create an unforgettable setting.

From previous visits, I can attest to the magic of Cocina de Autor—a sensory tasting experience like no other—and the flavors of Frida, Lucca, Azul, and Sen Lin. The culinary options feel endless, whether ceviche at Cabrilla, cocktails at Koi Bar, or a breezy beachside night at Miramar. You honestly can’t go wrong, so do set aside at least one night of your stay to dine at this lovely neighboring property during your visit.

Poolside Relaxation and Ocean Breezes
Much of our time was spent lounging by the infinity pool, where attentive staff made sure we never wanted for anything. The resort’s private beach offered a serene space to soak in the sun and the soothing sound of the waves. Thanks to the resort’s luxury SUVs, transfers to and from the airport were seamless, making travel feel like an extension of the experience.

Rejuvenation at the SE Spa: A Wellness Sanctuary
No stay at a Velas resort is complete without a visit to the SE Spa, and Grand Velas Boutique raises the bar. I spent a blissful afternoon immersed in the Holistic Wellness Ceremony, a guided journey through sauna, steam room, ice room, jacuzzi, emotive tunnel, and magnesium pool. It was all followed by a custom spa treatment that left me feeling utterly renewed—mind, body, and spirit.
