Read on to discover the spookiest haunted pub crawl spots this Halloween! Enjoy drinks, history, and ghostly tales in vibrant cities.

Halloween is quickly approaching, and one of the best ways to spend your Halloween night is to go on a haunted pub crawl. A haunted pub crawl will allow you to meet new friends, gain historical insights into the city you’re visiting, and enjoy a night of spooky fun. Haunted pub crawls are perfect for team-building events, bachelorette parties, and traveling with friends.

Here are the best places to go on a haunted pub crawl this Halloween for some booze and boos.

Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia, is one of the most haunted places in the US. In the 1820s, a yellow fever epidemic devastated the city, wiping out a tenth of its population. But that wasn’t the only misfortune Savannah suffered that year. A deadly fire broke out and ravaged the city.

However, Savannah had known death and destruction long before that. During the Siege of Savannah in 1779, hundreds of people were killed and wounded. The 1820 fire wasn’t the first deadly fire that Savannah suffered, either. In 1796, another fire destroyed hundreds of buildings, killing an unknown number of people. These disasters helped create the perfect playground for an adults-only drinking experience.

On a haunted Savannah pub crawl, you’ll visit places like Pinkie Masters, the oldest operating dive bar in the city, which has both spirits and spirits. Here, Jimmy Carter announced his plans to run for president—he was good friends with the owner. It’s said to be haunted by some of the victims of the yellow fever epidemic.

New Orleans, Louisiana

The French founded New Orleans, Louisiana, in the early 1700s. To this day, a strong French influence is felt in the city. You can explore the historic French Quarter and enjoy Cajun and Creole delicacies. The Cajun and Creole are distinct ethnic groups integral to Louisiana’s history

New Orleans has many spooky places, especially in the French Quarter. Voodoo was initially brought to Louisiana by enslaved West Africans. Later, it evolved into a unique flair of voodoo called Louisiana Voodoo, a blend of West African religious beliefs, Roman Catholicism, and traditional Haitian Voodoo.

This played a significant role in contributing to the haunted vibes you will feel when exploring the streets of the French Quarter at night. On a haunted adult-only New Orleans pub crawl, you’ll get to see haunted houses like the LaLaurie Mansion, haunted by the ghosts of former slaves who were tortured at the hands of socialite Madame Delphine LaLaurie. You will also visit some of New Orleans’ most famous pubs and bars for an R-rated party experience you’ll never forget!

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Gettysburg has seen some pretty gruesome and gory murders. The Battle of Gettysburg led to tens of thousands of casualties. With so many people dying at once, it’s no surprise that some of their souls got trapped ascending to heaven and remain haunting the city to this day.

On a haunted Gettysburg pub crawl, you’ll visit the Dobbin House Tavern, the former home of Reverend Alexander Dobbin. During the Battle of Gettysburg, it was turned into a temporary field hospital, and it is rumored to be haunted by the souls of the people who died there. After a drink or two, you might feel ready to look at some of the most cursed images you have ever seen, providing hard evidence that the ghosts of Gettysburg exist.

San Francisco, California

At the height of the gold rush, San Francisco’s population boomed. A small settlement at the time, it grew by 25 times in just two years, from 1,000 residents in 1848 to 25,000 in 1850.

However, the road to San Francisco was not easy. Fortune seekers, also called forty-niners (the height of the gold rush was in 1849), underwent long and arduous journeys to arrive in California. People from the East Coast sometimes sailed beyond the tip of South America over four to five months to get there. The more daring ones undertook the journey by land through the American wilderness or braved the Panamanian jungle to cut the trip a bit short.

However, their hardships did not end there. The era was one of extreme violence. Not only did some gold seekers fight among themselves, killing each other for gold, but 120,000 Native Americans died due to homicide, disease, and starvation after being forced off their land by the forty-niners.

On a haunted San Francisco pub crawl, you’ll get to experience San Francisco party vibes and learn all about the haunted history of San Francisco. San Francisco has some of the best dance floors in the city, in addition to its many pubs and bars.

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston has a somewhat complicated history with alcohol. Even before Prohibition, many speakeasies opened because Charleston only allowed bars to sell one bottle of beer at a time. The South Carolina Dispensary System further restricted alcohol sales by forbidding alcohol intake on-premises.

Fun fact: One of Charleston’s most popular bars is simply called Prohibition!

If you go on a haunted pub crawl in Charleston, you can visit Charleston icons such as the Blind Tiger Pub. Dating back to 1803, the Blind Tiger is one of Charleston’s most iconic spots.

One of the classic legends told about the Blind Tiger is of the Lady in Black, a ghostly apparition that haunts the place. Visible late at night, especially when the pub is about to close, this ghost often freaks out patrons. She sometimes even pulls people’s hair, trying to get a reaction out of them. Enjoy some spirits with this spirit on any nightly haunted pub crawl.

Another place to visit is The Griffon. This pub is popular for its classic British fish and chips and the Griffon drinking game.

As the sun sets and the spirits stir, there’s no better way to embrace the Halloween spirit than embarking on a haunted pub crawl.
